Organizer, Focus the Nation 2009
Description:
In January 2008, Focus the Nation events reached close to
one million people in a day of education and civic engagement on global warming
solutions taking place at 1,900 locations in all 50 states. 64 members of
Congress and 15 Governors’ offices participated in the events along with
hundreds of local and state politicians. The Focus the Nation team is gearing up for another national day of dialog
during the first 100 days of the new administration, with a goal of educating
millions and engaging a majority in each house of Congress in conversations on
global warming solutions. The national organizing team will be responsible for: • Saving the world (no pressure!) • Implementing an outreach plan to recruit event organizers in every
congressional district • Identifying, mobilizing, and building relationships with hundreds of
volunteer organizers • Supporting event organizers in event planning • Coordinating events at the state and regional level • Maintaining an online presence on social networking sites and blogs • Managing a comprehensive organizer database • Working with partner organizations Applicants must: • Have some organizing or campaign experience • Be able to have fun while doing important work • Be dedicated to stopping global warming • Be willing to work as part of a team • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment • Have excellent oral and written communication skills For more on Focus the Nation, visit www.focusthenation.org.

Qualifications:
• Phone or sales experience a plus • Equivalent experience acceptable in place of bachelor's degree • Position begins August 15th, 2008
and goes through February 28th, 2009
