October 16 + 17, 2007 Stand Up and Speak Out is the growing movement of people no longer prepared to stay seated or silent in the face of poverty and inequality. On October 16th and 17th, Stand Up and Speak Out for the Millennium Development Goals. Help us break the world record. So we can break the record of broken promises. We’ve tried to make it as simple as possible for you to get involved in Stand Up and Speak Out. You can find events and see if any are planned near you. Hosting your own event is easy when you know the “Three Rs” of Stand Up and Speak Out: Register, Record, Report. Simply come to http://www.standagainstpoverty.org to register your event (Good news, you are already here!). On the day of your event (between 9pm GMT on Oct. 16 and 9pm GMT on Oct. 17) gather everyone together for your Stand Up and Speak Out moment. Record how many people participate—you can estimate for big groups. Also, attempt to gather any photo, video, or audio footage you can. Finally, come right back to the website and follow the instructions to Report your numbers. There will also be links to share your multimedia from your event. Contact Info:
