Picture This! A world that has found it’s way through the fragmented reality in which it currently exists. Imagine a world in which you could easily and readily feel the interconnectedness of all things. Imagine a world where you feel like you are Living. WHAT? Living. Hold on. I was just beginning to imagine. Living, what would that be? I wish that I could answer that question for everyone around me, but alas….. there isn’t an answer that sits well with everyone at every moment. What I do know is that there is a growing movement to describe, build and define the best housing structures for us to “live” in. Imagine. Oops there we go again. No seriously; imagine a passionate and educated grouping of people- all intrigued by expression- gathering together and beginning to talk across the table of eco-conscious design. If you can begin to imagine what it would be like to be in a conference with Bau-biologists, labyrinth builders, Feng Shui experts, representatives from Habitat for Humanity, Permaculturists, Healers, USGBC members, Somatic Trainers and more, you will have a good mental picture of the Conscious Design Conference and Expo in Parsippany, NJ. Get this…. there was even a celebrity presence there. Dan Schachner, the Curb Appeal host, was there signing autographs. Some people thought that I was him and wanted my autograph. But, as hard as it was to deny the spotlight, I moved the discussion over to Rethos.com and spoke fondly of everyone here “onsite”. I brought everyone here up in hopes of bringing the conversation to the “Next Ring of Comprehension”. Renae Jensen, founder of Conscious Design and key instigator of the Conference, really got it. We had a lively and yet very grounded discussion on the relevance of utilizing all the current modes of expressiveness and gracefully situating ourselves and our socio-cultural model in a way more befitting healthy living. Peter Jordan, from Vital Office, was also amazingly insightful. And lest I forget to mention, Jami Lin- what a fireball of energy and creativity. I only had time to be at Sheraton in Parsippany for about half an hour to make some amazing connections and be impressed by where NJ has gotten to while I was away on the West Coast. I love this place and if any of you would like to know more about why: please do check the website for the conference: ConsciousDesignExpo.com, and for the Sheraton Hotel where it was held. The hotel has consistently been a leader in incorporating all kinds of efficient energy strategies and green renovation practices. I love imagining!
