Rethos so far...

Blog Blog

My intent with this blog is to find out what other Rethos.com users think of Rethos so far.

I was so excited to hear about the site and the idea behind it. I think it is a great concept. I realize it is still in the beginning stages, but I hope things pick up with the site soon.

I really haven’t noticed a lot of changes with the site since I signed up from the very beginning. I am hoping that the programmers and idea makers have been working hard behind the scenes to develop this into a more powerful site, and that the major enhancements and changes just haven’t been released yet.

I just feel like it is missing something big, and I just can’t put my finger on it.

One major element I do know that is missing from this site I believe are forums. I think forums are a great way to bounce ideas back and forth. I think forums would be a huge benefit to this site, to allow for more communication and to really allow this site to snowball forward to really effect change.

There are some minor things here and there that I have noticed, such as it seems hard to find things; it seems like the organization is a bit lacking, for example when I click on News Feed, it seems to always be the same articles on top.

I want to know everyone’s thoughts, and hopefully we’ll get some good ideas on here and if they haven’t been passed on yet to the folks at Rethos, hopefully they will see the blog. Please post your comments!

Marcus,

Thanks for the wonderful post and the great feedback! Let me address your concerns one by one:

1) You’re absolutely correct in noticing the lack of changes made to rethos since we launched the beta in September. Believe us when we say this is as frustrating to us as it is to you. But, good news! We are working very hard behind the scenes to improve the platform and to implement new and exciting features! We have received a lot of great suggestions from the community, and the rethos web team is working pretty much around the clock to get rethos to the next phase of its development.

2) Forums! Yes! I like your vision. We want rethos to be THE forum for debate and intellectual discussion. However, we don’t want head in that exact direction—we are working on a new concept altogether! Something that will provide users a place to congregate over specific issues of passion, where they can debate the problems and solutions surrounding an issue, and also where any relevant articles/movies/audio will automatically be directed too. Sounds awesome? It will be! Stay tuned for more information about this in the near future…

Again, thank you for your post Marcus. We want to encourage everybody to follow your example and send us their suggestions. Ultimately, if rethos is to be successful, then it will be because of you guys! For now, send your feedback to eli@rethos.com—soon there will be a suggestion board where users can submit their ideas and collaborate with others…all in due time rethonians…all in due time ;)

Best,
Eli

Yes. This post is a good idea.

I think it would be good if you could easily recommend an article to one of your allies. Like a “send to” roll-down menu below articles with a list of allies.

Anyway, only been here a day. Seems like they opened up the public beta so we’ll see what happens. Should get real busy soon.

I concur on the forum point. For the online communities I’m involved in the forum is the social center of activity for the site.

Thanks for the insight as to what’s going on Eli, and thanks for the input from Bas and Nick…surely there must be more ideas that you all have! Please post! I was hoping to get some good feedback coming in…well, if people aren’t posting here, I hope you’re sending feedback to the Rethos team.

the whole idea of this kind of an “awareness network” is beautiful, and really is something that can unleash the power of the internet in a positive way.

And i think the most wonderful thing is that it will just keep branching out and connecting with other net places/communities that are maybe more focused on specific areas/issues, and bind their power together.

I just hope you that the people behind this can afford to keep it addles.

I think we live in a place and time that really need this, something to get the voice of an individual multiply and matter, so just keep up the great work.

P.S. sorry for the bad english
