Over Prescribed Medicines/Mind Body Connection

After 6 years of being in and out of Dr. offices, hospitals for tests and waiting for results to see where my horrible chronic pain was coming from… I was diagnosed with a few chronic illness I was told were incurable. Drs. were offering me every prescription pain killer imaginable and they said I would have to learn to “manage my pain”. Luckily I never fully believed them but did give into taking pain killers when I could no longer take care of my 2 young children and my house because I was in too much pain ALL THE TIME.

After seeing the movie “The Secret” I told myself I was going to and immerse myself in mind/body and law of attraction materials and heal myself. 9 months later I am free of all pain and all pain killers. Amazing what the mind can achieve.

This summer I spent caring for my 2 children (almost 8 and 4), writing an e-book on the methods and resources I used to heal myself, started my own website, started beautiful flower and vegetable gardens around my house, began a blog on ways to heal pain naturally, took long walks in the beautiful park near my house and meditated, spent time with friends and family and truly enjoyed life. I went from crying and talking on health forums all day focusing on my illness to helping many other people and to non-stop energy and vitality.

My experience ranged from first-hand treatment with the medical field to my visits to pain forums where people had given up hope of ever feeling better. Many were dependent on pain pills and were needing higher and higher dosages.

Finally after all the marketing from the pharmaceutical companies and all the people becoming dependent on these dangerous pills I am happy to see that the dangers of these prescription painkillers are coming to light as this report by the CDC points out: “According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), prescription painkillers cause more accidental drug overdose deaths in the United States than cocaine and heroin combined.”

“These numbers are alarming and, in many cases, avoidable,” says Paul Kasper, Sr., President of Alivio Corporation, a manufacturer and provider of electrical stimulators for pain control. “It’s true that prescription drugs help some pain sufferers feel better, but at what cost? There’s a dark side to taking prescription drugs for pain that people don’t talk about, from debilitating side effects like ‘cloudy thinking’ and constipation to the grim-faced realities of addiction, black market drug trafficking, and, as the CDC study suggests, overdose deaths. Because the risk is so significant, prescription drugs should be a last resort—not the first.” To read this article in it’s entirety visit: http://pr-gb.com/index.php?option=com_content&;task=view&id=9157&Itemid=9

I understand there is a place for medicine in society. I just think we owe it to our bodies to heal ourselves and get ourselves to our maximum potential so we need as few medications as possible. A lot of these prescriptions have LONG term side effects. My intention is to educate people about the dangers of these medications long term and on mind/body healing and the mind/body connection.

“Psychoneuroimmunology” is finally proving the connection between mind and body. Maybe when this scientific evidence is brought to light and as much air time is spent on it as on pharmaceutical ads more will believe. For now, I maintain a blog on how to heal pain naturally, wrote my e-book on how I did it and am always looking into other ways people can naturally heal themselves. Thanks—I would love to hear from people. Rethos is amazing, I am so happy to be a part of it and can’t wait to see it continue to grow and make a difference!
