Great rant man. I’m a Canadian, but I watch a decent amount of American television. I have never even heard of Mike Gravel, and I rarely hear Dennis’ name mentioned either. I’m sure they are both the shit, they must be if they speak the truth. That’s just not ordinary.

I’m sad to say it, but welcome to America man. I agree with you completely, serious changes are needed to get this country in the right direction, but it’s hard to convince people to go in a different direction when they are blind to everything that’s happening.
I disagree with you on one point, it’s not that Americans don’t have the time, but that most simply don’t care. What we need is for people look beyond themselves and find the candidate that good do some real good to our country.
Don’t get me started on the media, that kind of rant wouldn’t fit here.

Spot on comments … but, I suggest to you that moderation, which I see as the outcome of honest discussion and debate from the extremes IS radical. It is a pipe dream, I fear, but it is my dream.

This is in response to what you said about it taking something radical (and I am curious what you had in mind there), but what I am suggesting is that moderation, which leads to a nation of one people who all agree on one thing … that we are a people … is radical for our times. This means that we would become a single unit of people, a country. This, together with a genuine respect for the humanity of each other and an allowance for the opinions of others to be expressed without demonizing the view and the person. But that is our way … I hate it too.

Consider the dichotomy of a healthy debate:

speak and be heard <-> listen and hear
analyze <-> revise
re-assert <-> analyze again, revise
concede <-> accept
modify <-> [dis]agree
Consensus of ideas.

(made up as I wrote so go easy on me)

Nothing is ever perfect, but dialog is key, rather, honest dialog is critical, essential.

There is nothing resembling objectivism, truth, or any genuine concern for this country in politics. The sad part, it is the norm, accepted … hmmmm, no … expected.

You say Americans aren’t stupid …. perhaps, but we are lazy when it comes to finding out things. But why is that? Because truth is a difficult thing to determine in our system. More so for those who really care.

Concern for the “facts of the matter” is inversely proportional to income level, generally speaking, no? The bulk of radical extremism in American politics is directly proportional to that same concern with conservatives predominately being in the “lacking concern” camp, no?

Those who care the most don’t have the means to determine what the hell is really happening. Those in power know that, they count on it. That is why I refer to contemporary conservatives as lemmings. It is not the views of the right which I dismiss as not worth my time, it is their language and arrogance, their “moral high ground” which I dismiss out of hand. When they can discuss, point for point, reasonably, then and only then can we begin. And the left, in politics is similarly flawed, but it seems more of a reaction to the beating liberal minds have taken over the last 20+ years.

I really like your passion and concern, I am with you.

Kucinich in particular I like.
