An ex-theatre academic and nonprofit cultural program entrepreneur, I have spent the past several years studying organizational development, particularly systems dynamics and strength-based approaches to change. Presently, I am learning all I can about green technologies, green investment products, and social entrepreneurship and social enterprise. I love the hybrid sector because I feel it is where significant social change is going to occur. To that end, I run a small consulting operation (GlobalHamlet Consulting) focused on sustainable enterprise and the arts. I also engage in part time and contract work in related endeavors with like-minded people and organizations and I am helping the good folks at Rethos build non-profit partnerships on this site.

I have considerable experience building productive global partnerships between community-based cultural organizations, government and educational institutions. As the founder of the International Program at the Lark Play Development Center in New York City, I created relationships with artists from many regions of the world, establishing the Lark as an important center in the US for the translation of “stage-worthy” play scripts. As a consultant, I have worked in both domestic and international cultural settings and have assisted theatre organizations and cultural leaders with the complex challenges of cross-cultural exchange. I have conducted research trips for artist exchanges with Russia, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Netherlands, Germany, Wales, Mexico and New Zealand. Recently I authored a book published in Dutch and English, A Survey of U.S. Professional Training Programs in Acting and Directing, sponsored by the Amsterdam-based VandenEnde Foundation, Holland. On a personal note, I recently returned from an extraordinary three week long backpacking trip in Alaska, where I hiked into the US/Canadian national park Wrangell- St Elias. I have backpacked for many years, and that trip was the crème de la crème! I live in New York City with Chantal Bilodeau, a bi-cultural playwright from Montreal. I have a son John, and a daughter Saren, both of whom reside in Wisconsin.
