I admit, occasionally I talk to myself. When I am preoccupied with life, and practicing for a speech, or an interview. I only do it when I am alone and, well, it makes me feel even more alone. It makes me feel like I really am talking just to myself, as if a forcefield were reflecting all of my words back at some more passive part of my soul.

I do not feel the same way when I sing alone. The more solitary a place I find myself in, the more unabashedly I let my voice fly free, and it does not make me feel lonely, or depraved in the least. Quite to the contrary. I suppose I believe that no matter where I am, if I sing clearly enough, rejoicingly enough, someone other than myself will be listening closely. I would very much like to meet that attentive Self someday.
