Using the power and popularity of soccer in the fight against AIDS, Grassroot Soccer provides African youth with the knowledge, skills, and support to live HIV free. Founded in 2002, GRS has graduated over 195,000 youth from its sports-based prevention programs in 11 African countries. The model has been independently evaluated by Stanford University's Children's Health Council and found to significantly improve adolescents HIV-related knowledge, attitudes, and intended behaviors. Scaling up around Africa, GRS aims to graduate over one million adolescents by World Cup 2010.
