I am shocked to find out that 22% of all bottle water in N.America is recycled/reprocessed municipal water. I drink plenty of bottled water, although most of the times I replenish my bottles and I rinse them on most occasions.

Great post. Can anyone help back up this post with some European sources of information and organisations? The article is aimed at Americans, but being European (from Holland, but living in Bulgaria for a while) I would love to see some more information on this when it comes to Europe.

Because I’m quite sure EU rules are a lot stricter than those of the US government, but still would want to see some info.

Biofuels allow the users to believe they are being green while they continue to use an inordinate amount of energy, especially in the USA. There does not seem to be a real effort to adjust a life-style now being copied by China and India.

In Colombia the production of oil palm for biofuels is beginning to have an impact on tropical forest, since the producers are mostly interested in what price they will receive from buyers (USA). The massive planting of African oil palm is now reducing biodiversity in Colombia, one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. Producers are interested in a return on their investment, not in whether the use of biofuels reduces oil production.

On paper it sounds good. In actuality, the growers will fell more and more forest to grow the crops.

I live in Northern Palm Beach County, Florida, and West Palm Beach participated in PARK day and people were amazed by how their moods were immediately altered by the prospect of sitting on a swath of green in the otherwise dingy downtown area. It’s a great spirit lifter!

Wow, A roommate of a very deep friend was one of the people who started this “Park” idea. He may even be the guy who started the whole thing. I don’t know. What I do know is that I am near overwhelmed that I within 2 degrees of separation, here is such an amazing example of a great idea going for it. Consciousness- WOW!

Volunteers needed to clean up waste created by an accident during a HIMEOBS operation. Please bring: heavy gloves, rags, antiseptic, toothbrush, positive attitude, gas mask, ear plugs. We are in need of volunteers who know how to work with animals covered with slime and gore.

Accident has not yet occured, but likely will take place at some point between the specified hours. The cleanup crew needs to be at ready and at attention in case of disaster.

Blood tests will be available after the cleanup, free of charge.

Lunch will be served...
