WASHINGTON, June 13 (UPI) -- Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and his wife, Cindy, have something in common with ordinary Americans -- a lot of credit card debt.

In his latest financial disclosure report, McCain said that he and his wife owe between $10,000 and $15,000 on one card, while Cindy McCain owes between $100,000 and $250,000 to American Express, The Hill, a Washington newspaper, reported. This is great! We so seldom look at the complexity of our relationship with stuff… How much we work for, earn for, pay out for, spend travelling to stores to get STUFF… and how much is onvolved in making the STUFF, moving the STUFF to get it to cinsumers… ITS VAST and should make us pause when we are reaching our our hands to grab the next piece of STUFF.

Jerry, I apologize for taking so long to respond. I had missed your comment. I think that the projections for grid parity also rely in grid inter-tied solar systems. That means they draw from the grid at night and produce for it during the day. The net effect might be zero and there is no need for batteries. The issue is different is regions of the world without an existing grid. Perhaps the developments in EV transportation will dovetail with battery technology that help make solar truly reach grid parity everywhere. Some think we are only a few years away from that possibility.

Hope those projection for grid parity are true but they seem very optimistic to me. Also, do those estimates include the cost of energy storage systems to we have power after sunset? The required energy storage technology needs almost as much breakthrough development as the solar cells themselves.
