September 23, 2008, Gulu District, Uganda: Refugees who have been disabled by the war in Northern Uganda are confronting food shortages and inaccessible public services in government-run camps. I definitely agree on public transportation. I love living in a city in which I can walk everywhere. And for days when I absolutely need a car, I rent one for a couple hours through a car share… which I hope to see in more cities soon! =)

I agree with jonathan, public transit is better by far. unfortunately, as long as there is a market for privately owned vehicles there will be companies making and selling them and it’s far far better to have those vehicles be electric then gasoline powered, if only because electric engines are far more efficient in their power consumption and because it creates at least the possibility for sustainable energy since electricity can be generated by wind, sun, tides, etc.

Besides a list of these electric cars, what is the total amount of pollution, including their manufacturing, etc, that will truly reduce. Mass transit is actually a better solution. Also more walking, and having stores and work near where you live. But electric cars are cool nonetheless. I drove a Hybrid from Montreal to Toronto and was amazing at how little gas it used.

I found the funeral a bad way to start but the whole documentary is really well done. Is a serious work and worth it to watch.

A few weeks after a watched this movie I found rechargeIT, a Google initiative that shows that electric cars are possible.

If car manufacturers and oil companies don’t want this to happen. Is good to see companies like Google that use their money to make it by them selves.

This is a truly eye-opening film. It shows how top-down government legislation can enact huge change rapidly (as it was the case when California passed a law that required that a percentage of all new cars sold by companies in that state had to be zero emission vehicles) and how commercial pressure on government can revert good laws. I don’t know of many videos that show a better example of how corporate lobbying can make a legislative body overturn a good law in the books.
