      <title>16 year old high school student discovers how to biodegrade plastic bags</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Daniel Burd, a 16 year old high school student from Waterloo Ontario, won the Canada-Wide Science Fair by figuring out how to break down Polyethylene plastic bags in a matter of months.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He theorized that if the bags can be broken down naturally - albeit over thousands of years - then there must be something in nature that eats the polyethylene, and that by increasing the concentration of the right bacteria, he could increase the rate of consumption.&lt;/p&gt;
