Wilderness

Anyone interested in the way people think about Wilderness areas, and the history of the Wilderness Act should check out this book: Wilderness and the American Mind (by Roderick Nash). Its the seminal book on the history of wilderness and its in its 4th edition. It discusses the revolution in western thinking that was respect and admiration for wild places (as opposed to the hundreds of years of negative connotations and fear), as well as the role people like Thoreau, Muir, and Leopold played in advocating for wild lands. Could be some good inspiration!
