MSF encounters 56 dead bodies on the shore of Yemen

A MÃ©decins Sans FrontiÃ¨res (MSF) team assisting refugees and migrants who cross the Gulf of Aden encountered on Dec. 15, 56 dead bodies near Arqa, on the shore of Yemen.

When the MSF team arrived in the morning, they first found a group of 49 survivors, 10 of them women, on the shore. Further ahead were dozens of bodies washed upon a five kilometre stretch of coast. While thousands of people flee Mogadishu the humanitarian medical organization MÃ©decins Sans FrontiÃ¨res (MSF), is gravely concerned about the remaining population in the Somali capital as violence intensifies in the city.

MSF is one of the only international organizations providing health services in Mogadishu and is witnessing increasing violence in the areas near one of its clinics. Those who are able have left the city, but many more are trapped, cannot afford to flee or are too afraid to leave...

Cyclone Sidr, which struck southern Bangladesh on Nov. 15, killed more than 3,000 people and made hundreds of thousands homeless according to the latest official figures. MSF is providing assistance to victims in the most remote areas.
